Vintage Swedish Rug by Aina Kange

Rugs from Nazmiyal Rugs, Designed by Aina Kange

Product description

Here is a unique and exciting vintage carpet – a Swedish rug that was woven in Scandinavia during the middle years of the twentieth century with an exciting composition by Swedish rug designer Aina Kange. Daring and decidedly modern, this carpet is characterized by its dynamic composition in which opposing line work plays out against a background of gold. Effectively divided into two even halves, this carpet features a series of narrow, angular lines of black on the left side, and its mirror – narrow, angular lines of white – on the left. These lines are are straight and assertive, arranged into a pattern that resembles sharp, serrated teeth; irrespective of any concrete similarities, however, these lines are ultimately abstract, moving energy throughout the piece in a captivating manner. That the black lines seem to continue into the white portion of the carpet and vice versa infuses the piece with an unmistakable energy, giving it a powerful presence despite is superficial simplicity. An intriguing vintage carpet, this mid-century Swedish rug is a compelling example.
