This stunning mid-century modern vintage Moroccan rug, from the North African country Morocco, features an elaborate array of abstract geometric motifs rendered in a classic combination of chocolaty brown and ivory. Checkered dividing lines break the field into distinct compartments that are decorated with arborescent humanoid symbols, rectilinear chests and zigzagging running water motifs. Coffered squares and vague geometric patterns rendered in alternating colors create a discontinuous theme that appears and reappears with ease. These graphic geometric motifs are boldly offset by the plush ribbed ivory pile that is embellished with subtle turquoise flecks and colorful accents. The sophisticated composition of this vintage rug is completed by linear chocolate brown borders that line the periphery of the field along with flat-woven accents and finely textured fringes.
