Concept
The multifunctional chair Vlag is made in the image of a streaming flag. The movement still clearly shows in the design. The firm, roling shape of the seat is supported by stark, thin legs. Soft upholstry is supported by hard material. A contrast between “sitting” and “supporting” that is also characteristic of other designs by Gerard van der Berg.
The Vlag suits every environment: lounges, conference rooms, and restaurants, but also the office or a domestic environment, where it will be a striking extra seat.
Flag Office Chair can be used in any environment, from lounges, conference rooms, restaurants to reception areas, as well as eye-catching side chair in the office or in the interior of a home.
The variety of fabrics especially those of Kvadrat are the starting point for the upholstery of the tub. The fabric is made without glue. The back is slightly springy providing optimum comfort is achieved. In the frame, the wavy lines of the seat visually put. The Vlag comes with a stackable chassis or with a mobile variant: a five teens base with gas lift for height adjustment. A tilting device is standard. Flag is optional to provide an open metal or upholstered armrest cheeks.

Plain, usually slightly curved, and yet suggestive and unmistakable forms are typical of Gerard van den Berg. The Dutch designer consciously goes for simplicity and for this very reason shows his creative ability. Van den Berg, born in 1947, studied furniture building and design at a technical college. In the Seventies he founded together with his brother the Montis upholstered furniture company. Thanks to his designs the young company soon attained international recognition. It´s success did not stop van den Berg´s leaving Montis in the early Nineties. Since then he has been a freelance designer. His work for leading international furniture companies and numerous prizes and awards testify to his creative ability. Apart from furniture, van den Berg also designs lamps, exhibition buildings and interiors for companies and offices. [source: www.wittmann.at]
