Elephant wood

Chairs from Kristalia, Designed by Neuland Paster & Geldmacher

Product description

Kristalia presents for the first time in Paris the new Wood version of the Elephant chair, with legs in beech wood attached to the body by metal supports painted in the same color. Generous and light, the Elephant chair marks the beginning of a working partnership between Neuland Industriedesign and Kristalia in 2010. The body is available in hard polyurethane in various colours, with a 4-leg base or slide base with a chrome or satin finish, or lacquered in the same colour of the body.

The padded version with cold-foamed polyurethane cushions upholstered in hide is even more refined and comfortable: it shows a handcrafted stitching which recalls the backbone of an elephant, adding a further touch of natural prestige to the concept of this chair.

Concept

Starting from a very simple frame, Eva Paster and Michael Geldmacher of Neuland created an extremely innovative project that received an Interior Innovation Award in 2012. The key to the success of this best-selling armchair is its versatility, which allows it to evolve almost continuously, not to mention the high-quality tailored workmanship of the upholstery. The structure is available in polyurethane, with cushions; padded and covered in hide, with the characteristic reinforced ribbing reminiscent of the backbone of an elephant; padded and upholstered in fabric, with hand-stitched seams. In addition to wood or metal legs, the chair is available with a slide-frame base, rocking base, swivel base or castors.
