Concept

A bench made of recycled oak and steel.
Exquisite minimalism in conjunction with recycled oak define the design of the ALEX bench. Reduced to the essentials, this bench impresses with its puristic design and comfortable backrest.
On the 2 cm x 4 cm square steel tube frame rests a robust, 2 cm-thick bench plate made from recycled oak. The obtusely angled backrest, also 2 cm-thick, is made from antique oak. The recycled, antique oak is up to one hundred years old, and is comprised of a particularly stable three-layer plate. The backrest is 85 cm-high, while the seat height is 45cm, and the seat itself is 40cm deep. The wood is sealed with organic hard wax oil to protect and care for the antique oak, while expressively accentuating its patina. The bench frame is made from 2 cm x 4 cm square steel tube. The untreated steel frame is then rust-sealed with an organic, transparent coating. Thus, the steel is durable and corrosion resistant. Due to the individual processing of the steel frame, each piece is unique and captivates with its rough industrial charm.
Bench ALEX finds its place in the dining or living area and acts as an individual design piece, or, as shown, with dining table MEERSSEN Oak as a dining ensemble perfect for a wide variety of rooms.
