Protestant church | Steckborn | Switzerland

from Girsberger

Product description

In 2015, the protestant church in Steckborn, built between 1766 and 1768, was completely renovated and refurbished, first outside, then inside. The somewhat time-worn solid ash pews were also to be restored to their former glory. Girsberger removed all twenty pews and took them to its manufacturing site in Bützberg, where they were stored and completely overhauled during the 8-month period required to finish refurbishing the building interior. First, the carpenters drilled holes into the pews to accommodate the new heating pipes. They then optimized the pew-back book racks by removing the edging to make it easier to slide the books into the racks. Finally, the six-metre-long pews were sand blasted and smoothed, then three coats of varnish were applied. Girsberger delivered the newly restored pews punctually in advance of the celebration service marking the end of the renovation work.
