BELA Table
Architonic ID: 1246064
Year of Launch: 2014
Concept
With Bela, the Swiss furniture manufacturer Girsberger is introducing a new solid wood table that is characterized by its free-moving synchronous extendable section. The product was designed by Stefan Westmeyer.
The Bela extension pulls out as easily as a drawer. This innovative concept of equipping a trestle table with a pull-out section was a response to customer feedback: trestle tables offer greater flexibility than their four-legged counterparts when it comes to seating – and the option of extending a table means that a large group of people can be seated without any problems.
As the tabletop extends synchronously in both directions, the light always hangs over the centre of the table. The patterning of the tabletop extends across the entire surface, even once the table has been extended, as the extension is made from the same tree as the tabletop.
Bela is available as a modular system in many different versions. The trestles are available in concrete, MDF or powder-coated steel and come in a variety of colours. The tabletop is also available with tapered outer edges, making the table appear particularly lightweight.
