Chaise longues from Gebrüder T 1819, Designed by James Irvine

Product description

Concept

Armchair, daybed, chaise longue, sofa: S 5000 – the variable programme

Based on the archetype of the minimalist sofa with a base of bent tubular steel, which was first added to the GT1819 portfolio in the 1930s, designer James Irvine developed a versatile furniture system that can be used in a variety of settings. The S 5000 sofa range is based on a simple, intelligent construction idea that makes use of the modular principle. Inspired by the ever-increasing fusion of working and living spaces, Studio Irvine, in keeping with its
founder, took on the task of intelligently refining it, so that it would fit into the modern concept of New Work: structurally identical arm and backrests or dividing panels can be integrated into the seat frame as needed to serve as a sight and noise barrier. This makes it expandable in a variety of ways, and, thanks to its variable side panels, it can also be used in multi-space offices. The panels create a frame for various cushions, which can be loosely put in
the desired place. The furniture range also includes small tables that are screwed to the tubular steel frame. This creates entire sofa landscapes that are modularly expandable and modifiable. As a classic sofa, the S 5000 fits in modern living spaces, in the smaller version with panels it becomes a smart working station for working from home and in the larger versions it can be used in office middle zones and lounges, in co-working spaces or in waiting rooms.
