Concept

Proa comprises a bench and chair with a built-in arm rest that reproduces a natural shape that seems to belong to a harbour setting. Its unstable design generates a visual oxymoron that urges the spectator to test its use.

The Proa bench is inspired by the profile of the prow of the boats moored at the docks of Antwerp. The combination of the height and inclination of the seat, along with the height of the back and arm rests come together to make the Proa bench and chair extremely comfortable.

Combination of two support models, right and left, made from GG-20 grey cast iron with a black paint forged-effect finish over a primer powder coating and with a polyester paint finish. The lateral profiles are made from sandblasted L-2341 cast aluminium with a white baked paint finish, FSC tropical wood planks with a single cross section to permit the assembly of the chair of 73 cm and bench with a length of 173 cm. Anchored to the paving with three M12 x 200 mm screws per support, inserted into holes filled with resin.
