With the Reef sofa, a new collection is launched that fits in perfectly with the Durlet tradition of design with a solid and, at the same time, refined look and feel. Frans Schrofer’s design matches up with a cubist visual language but simultaneously has a very soft look. If you half close your eyes, you will see a conventional square sofa shape. If, however, you have a closer look, you will see what makes the design dynamic but also soft and inviting: the slanted lines on the top and outer side of the arms and the rounding of all corners of the sofa which vary in accordance with the point of contact. The armrests and sitting and back cushions have larger radii than the plinth and the legs. The legs themselves are made of flat steel but at the same have a friendly look because of their tapered shape and rounded corners.
The great trump card of this model is the hidden function of the back cushions which can be completely unfolded towards the top. This ensures that the elegant low settee can be transformed into an absolute comfort sofa in which you can settle and never come out. The sofa’s contours are finished with a refined T-stitch that reinforces Durlet’s hand-made workmanship and gives the sofa extra character and even more so when, as is the case at the trade fair, it is finished in contrasting colors.
