Sofas from Durlet, Designed by Henk Heres

Product description

Concept

The power of Henk Heres’s designs lies in the combination of a contemporary taut interplay of lines with flawless seating comfort, that can go with different interior styles. Whereas his former design, ‘Sydney,’ featured enormous possible choices for the structure of the model, his current design boasts a wide scale of possible variations in terms of look and seating position. “Headrests are much in demand,” explains Anton Vanzieleghem. “But they look heavy in an interior. That is why we opted for a system with folding backs, which can serve as headrest. The hassocks are extendible. This settee is a moveable beast which does not look like a practical seat, however, but on the contrary, when everything has been pulled back, it has all the appeal of a taut, rectilinear and architectural settee.” In the form of an open T-profile, the legs add also to the visual lightness of the settee.

Why the name ‘Chicago’? “If you were to live in a penthouse in Chicago, this settee would be ideal, because the folded backs would not interfere with the view on the lake. Once the sun goes down, you can pull out the hassocks, extend the backs and get nice and comfortable in front of your home cinema.”
