The Frankfurt furnitures are part of a series designed by the architects Norbert Berghof, Michael Landes and Wolfgang Rang representing the German version of Postmodernism and, within this version, more specifically representing the "Darmstädter-Frankfurter Schule". The designs of this production series are produced in a limited quantity of 100 pieces each and are numbered, dated and signed.
The Frankfurt cabinet F2 is a secretary bureau in bird´s eye maple, ebony, bruyère, root timber and gold leaf, marble types Port´Oro, Lasa and Nero Marquina. It is provided with small safe-deposit boxes, secret safes, drawers and a writing plate.
Vertiko F2 stylistically resembles F1, other architectural elements are, nevertheless, cited here. When closed, the cupboard has a tower-like appearance which is reminiscent of a tall building. The open doors reveal an interior which resembles an early Christian Romanesque apsis. Biedermeier references interchange with Art Deco elements and Medieval motifs. The cupboard is limited to 100 and each item is dated and numbered.
Every single piece is an individual construction - a hand-made masterpiece. The Frankfurt cabinets are works of art. They have been part of significant exhibitions and many international museums have bought them.
