Product description

The lampshade of the Plissée Pendant Lamp balances in the air like a delicate balloon of light. The elaborately pleated structure of mouth-blown opal glass is carefully handmade, lending Sebastian Herkner’s design its soft, almost textile look. The glass shade of Plissée is frosted white on both the interior and exterior surface, creating a pleasant ambient light and also a light cone directed downwards. The closing ring and socket made of coloured lacquered aluminium - optionally in black, bronze or brass - set elegant accents. In order to be able to adjust the lamp easily, the Plissée pendant is suspended by three fine steel wires. With its sensuous, aesthetic appearance, Plissée lends itself to the creation of individual arrange- ments in the home or in restaurants, bars or hotels – either as a single piece or in a group.

Pendant lamp. Hand-blown lamp shade white satin-finished opal glass with pleated surface. Closing ring and socket colour-lacquered in black, bronze or brass. Suspension from three steel wires, adjustable in height and alignment. Cable length 2 m, special lengths upon request. Replaceable LED bulb: 8 W / E 27 / 240 V / 700 lm / 2700 K / CRI 95.

Concept

With his Bell Table design, which kicked off his cooperation with ClassiCon in 2012 and was the designer’s first step towards international recognition, Sebastian Herkner turned our usual perception of materials upside down. Herkner once again achieves this effect in a fascinating way with his Plissée Floor Lamp: the lampshade, like a sensual, weightless balloon of light, balances on a metal base. The trick: what is reminiscent of artfully pleated textile is in reality hand-blown glass. An elaborate artisan production process enables this soft, textile-like, visual effect and hence the realisation of Herkner’s vision. A dimmable LED light source creates the individually desired level of cosiness. The design of the Plissee Floor Lamp hence unites traditional craftsmanship with an industrial component – and, not least through this combination, carries the unmistakable signature of Sebastian Herkner.
