Concept

The idea from which the ceramics of TOILE collection, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni for Mutina, comes from is extremely new and changes the surface into soft and exquisite weaving, offering extraordinary tactile and visual perceptions. It is an unstretched fabric whose softly irregular shadows create a surprising three-dimensional effect and an unusually soft sensation.

TOILE, offered in the innovative wall covering sizes 80x180 and 20x180 cm, gives the surface a sense of movement, almost in a natural, continuous flow, aiming at modifying the perception of the material: textiles, like ancient tapestry, baroque damask, eastern silk – or simply fluid clay.

The collection designed by Dordoni was manufactured with total respect for the environment in large and unglazed porcelain stoneware slabs. The continuous improvements made to the productive process used make it suitable to green buildings and represent a radical innovation of the production process. TOILE collection is part of the “industrial” products range by Mutina and has been specifically designed for the tiling in residential spaces.

As with all the Mutina collections, TOILE is the result of a production process which totally eliminates V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds): these volatile chemicals easily evaporate at room temperature (benzene, chloroform, ethanol, butane and formaldehyde) and prolonged exposure to them can, in closed environments, cause both acute and chronic effects for the health.
