Product description

Concept

STIR, the happy armchair

The ‘happy’ armchair
Stir is a collection of armchairs in beech plywood with a curved chair back and soft fabric upholstery, featuring a base that has been designed to rock the chair gently and cradle whoever is sitting in it. A rocking chair? "Stir wasn’t designed as a rocking chair", explains Japanese designer Kazuko Okamoto. "I wanted a fun chair that created a sense of well-being and also this lightness to be evident in its design”. Inspired by a traditional Japanese doll The concept behind Stir derives from Okiagari Koboshi, the traditional papier-mâché Japanese lucky doll that wobbles but always returns upright thanks to its centre of gravity. Light, enveloping lines and the material nature of beech plywood The aesthetic lines of Stir are clean and airy, the little armchair looks light and ethereal. The rocking base is made up of a wooden semi-circle that is reflected in a perfectly symmetrical manner in the semi-circle of the enveloping arms.
