Cementino

Rugs from Calligaris, Designed by Michele Menescardi

Product description

CEMENTINO is a tribute to flooring made with Portland cement tiles, a true icon of late 19th-century Italian and European moderate-income housing. The three-dimensional pattern is based on the truncated octahedron figure, characterised by six square sides and eight hexagonal sides. Repeated in space, it forms a pattern with variously shaded areas that create a distinctive frame inside each home, bestowing an olden-day allure on the setting. CEMENTINO is machine-made and both the fleece and structure are made of synthetic fibres (polyester and polypropylene), but worked with a special ultra-resistant process that yields a “hand-made” effect.
