Dana Side Table

At its best, mid-century design was architectural, sculptural, and very much the product of deft hand craftsmanship. The Dana, with an ever-so-slightly raised border framing a reverse diamond match top, itself floating over legs gently tapering to the abstract profile of a bird, recalls the thoughtful high touch modern work of the period. Each leg rests on a six-sided cast brass foot, and the compound miter at the center of the base suggests an Asian element of mystery.

The Dana is a much lighter - and more artistic - alternative to most side tables. The negative space allows a color scheme to breathe, and the round form floats beautifully, even in traffic. The top becomes functional art in spirit and in use.
