Concept
Surface, a series of multiuse low tables by Vincent Van Duysen, expresses the very best of his design poetics. The subtle quest for balance through simplification is achieved by the use of understated features, small proportions, basic materials and natural hues. “Surface is a collection of low table furniture with the graphical appearance of a Piet Mondrian painting and the sculptural form of a Donald Judd artwork,” explains Van Duysen, thus revealing his sources of inspiration. Each unit consists of metal and wood faces with a subtle colour touch. The collection consists of six different units and a broad choice of finishes allowing different kind of configurations or layouts”.
Multiuse small tables inspired, according to the words of the designer, by a painting by Piet Mondrian and the sculptures of Donald Judd, which skilfully combine different materials (wood and metal) and satin and glossy colours. The collection, which already consists of three different elements, now welcomes a new module which offers a new composition design (dimensions 140x150x37 h cm) with the possibility of accessing the lowest surface from all four sides.
The structure is in oak with satin or glossy inserts; the sides are in painted bronzed nickel or chrome-plated steel.
