Bluebell is a hand tufted rug designed by Broberg & Ridderstråle for ASPLUND Carpets in 2014. It's made in 100% Wool and has set base colours and pattern in contrasting colours.
Concept
A finely hand-knotted carpet in wool with silk details. Very elaborately handcrafted. Available with cream, midnight blue and grey backgrounds. Also available in three tufted versions — Rose, Bluebell and Eucalyptus, with the respective flowers/leafs accentuated.
”We had the idea of creating a pattern that is not a traditional repeat, but more free in its composition, like an action painting,” says designer Mats Broberg.
”Our idea was a pattern reminiscent of the floor in a florist’s shop, with a spontaneous, random feeling. We threw the flowers from a latter and then photographed the pattern that was created. In reality, it was rather complex. It took many days to get the pattern right and the production process was quite advanced, but I think we succeeded in achieving the free and natural feeling we desired.”
