Temporary seating
A family of comfortable stools for flexible use, ideal for our healthier, mobile lives. Hand-stitched leather saddles over a simple wire frame, make for friendly, helpful companions to any occasional seated situation.
‘We wanted to design a series of stools we could use in our own projects, the ones we find hard to source,’ explains Ilse Crawford, Founder of Studioilse. ‘Useful pieces that settle back into their surroundings, but can be pulled together to create casual, occasional spaces. The materiality, colours, leather and dimensions were all carefully considered to be adaptable to their environment and the changing ways that we live.’
‘The fine linear structure is important,’ adds Oscar Peña, Co-Principal of Studioilse, ‘We wanted the physical lightness and movability of the chair to be translated visually. We designed the frame with continuous lines and soft curves so the finished piece is like drawing. The supple leather compliments the organic structure and gives warmth, comfort and tactility.’

Construction
The Perching family consists of four stools, a footstool (height 38 cm), a stool (height 49 cm), a high stool (height 69 cm) and a barstool (seat is 80 cm high). The stools have a steel powder-coated frame, upholstered with a saddle leather seat tied with leather laces. Perching is available in four fixed combinations of leather seats and base colours.
