At IMM 2010, Arco launched the Scene cabinet series: a light and open cabinet system that consists of horizontal frames and insert units that ‘divide, support and define character’. The insert units can be positioned as required which allows for endless compositions and makes it possible to create a unique functional piece of furniture for any situation. Arco reveals the expansions to this series: based on the same principle, free-standing cabinet combinations are now also possible.
The basic system consists of rectangular open casing and shelves in wood or lacquer. Separate units inserted between these elements can serve as a divider, a support or a visual feature. Some of these separate units are open, come in a variety of widths and depths, and are available in lacquered metal in a (keynote) colour of the customer's choice. Other larger units made of wood are closed and come with a door, a flap or drawers. These three basic components, each with its own specific function, can be combined in all kinds of ways. So anyone can design a unique piece of furniture that has precisely the right compartments for their collection of CDs, books, equipment, magazines and ornaments. Equipment cables are neatly concealed in the covered cable duct at the back of the cabinet.
