The idea behind the Panel System sprung from the wooden Venetian Blinds production. As a recycling experiment, leftover slats from Venetian Blinds were applied to panel curtains hanging in Ann Idstein’s own living room. This was at the end of the 1980’s. The slats proved to be both pleasing to look at and also practical to use as a grip while sliding the panels sideways. The market introduction came at the Heimtex Fair in Frankfurt in 1992 and was soon established as a real bestseller. 20 years later, the product is still something of a signature for the Ann Idstein collection. The variety of textile materials and wooden slats available, allow for almost endless combining possibilities.

Wooden slats can be glued to the fabric, either symmetrically or according to customer wishes. The slats are placed both on the back- and front of the fabric, ensuring stability and at the same time making it visually appealing from both sides. Slats can be placed horizontally across the fabric or as a vertical grip at the outer ends of the curtain. Regardless of which, there are more than 15 types of solid wood, 10 coloured linden slats and several colours of laminated wood to choose from. As for all Ann Idstein products, it is also possible to get wooden slats custom painted according to RAL, NCS or a specific colour sample.

Ann Idstein’s panel curtains can be supplied complete with sliding profiles and track rails in white or anodized aluminium with a choice of 2, 3, 4 or 5 tracks. The track rail can be fitted to the ceiling or wall.
