Soleras Beige

This new and unconventional offering is inspired by an original and aesthetically appealing recycled material that in reality would be impossible to use on residential floors. SOLERAS from ABK is a collection of planks reproducing the magical appeal of wooden staves from barrels used for “Criaderas y Soleras”, a technique for ageing prestigious wines and spirits such as sherry, madeira and brandy.
The curved natural wood could never be used as a floor or wall covering, but aesthetic research conducted by ABK has created porcelain tile that reproduces both the wood grain and the fascinating markings left when liquids have stood for a long time in the barrels.
SOLERAS comes in six colours (Bianco, Grigio, Antracite, Naturale, Beige and Avana) on a substrate with a manually planed appearance. It is available in the five plank formats 13.5x80 cm, 20x80 cm 20x120 cm, 20x170 cm and 40x170 cm rectified and in the original sizes 20x80 cm rectified French Pattern (for “French herringbone” or chevron installation) and 60x60 cm rectified. With this collection, ABK has taken ceramics beyond mere imitation to demonstrate clearly how technology and aesthetic research can create eye-catching and unconventional solutions.
