Yarg | Tree grate

The YARG tree surround consists of four cast aluminium covers painted in foundry black. The perimeter is finished with an outer frame in galvanised steel sheeting with an elongated angular geometry measuring 180 x 80 cm. Three different formations are possible by combining the cover pieces according to the desired protection and access improvement specifications. It is installed with a single type of primary cover for the outer edges, attached to the frame with stainless steel bolts, and two optional central covers that slot in unattached. YARG was proposed by architect Enric Pericas and produced by Escofet in response to a commission by the Municipal Parks and Gardens Institute to resolve the problem of adaptation to new legislation on accessible tree surrounds for medium-height trees lining the narrow corridors that cross the islands in Barcelona´s Ensanche district.
