Material:
The LED unit is made of die casted aluminium and the shade of steel.
Integrated multi-chip LED:
The light technology is based on a highly energy-ef cient multi-chip LED solution. It consists of a cluster of diodes, instead of several separate diodes. By using multi-chip LED, so called multi-shadows are avoided.
Light distribution:
A reflector combined with a diffuser gives a very even light distribution over a large surface.
Glare protection:
The construction of the LED unit and the shade protects from glare.
Dimmable:
The w162 dalston has integrated dimmable electronics, enabling dimming from external dimmers and lighting control systems.
Coloured inside:
Using LEDs to project the light directly downwards, the shade is not used as a re ector. This gives the opportunity to paint the inside of the shade in the same colour as the outside, without destroying the quality of the light.
Customisation:
w162 dalston is constructed in a way that allows for extensive customisation (LED unit and separate shade) using two sizes of metal shades (available in a range of RAL colours).

w162 Dalston takes its cue from the common workshop lamp, inspired not only by the honesty and functionality that define its every aspect, but also its classic, unassuming character. Refining and updating this practical approach with advanced LED technology, w162 Dalston provides high-quality illumination without putting itself in the limelight – unless, of course, you want it to.

Industrial Facility is a design office formed by designer Sam Hecht and architect Kim Colin in 2002. The studio follows a rigorous path of investigation and analysis in its work. Its belief is in the importance of design as a means of simplifying our lives in an inspirational way. Sam Hecht is probably best known for his contribution to the development of technically demanding projects for Muji, for which he has produced over 50 products and where he is currently Design Advisor for Europe. Other recent collaborations include the ‘Twice’ clock and ‘Once’ watch for Lexon France, the FlexLamp for Droog and the ‘Equipment’ project for Whirlpool (2004). For Epson Japan he has produced a DVD/LCD projector (2004) and the third generation Picturemate printer (2006), both of which have been awarded a G-mark from Japan, and an IF Gold Award from Germany. In total, Hecht and Industrial Facility have earned themselves over 30 design awards in the past few years.
