Concept
Tufty-Time is not only a re-interpretation of the past, but also an excellent, innovative solution for such issues as modularity, comfort and removable covers. Tufty-Time is an informal system, with free and versatile composition possibilities. The modular system is made up of an ottoman, the basic unit, which can be matched with other central, corner and end units with high or low armrests. These elements form traditional sofas, chaise longue sofas, corner sofas and island elements a 360° seating solution. Especially welcoming in the greater-depth version, Tufty-Time becomes a meeting place, or a cosy refuge where to relax.

IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY, BUT TEN YEARS HAVE ALREADY PASSED SINCE THE LAUNCH OF THETUFTY-TIME SEATING SYSTEM, INSPIRED BY THE CREATIVITY OF PATRICIA URQUIOLA. IT WAS 2005, ANDTHE DESIGNER SAID, “I WANTED TO TAKE A NEW LOOK AT THE CAPITONNÉ AND CHESTERFIELD STYLES,WITH A SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE REINTERPRETATIONS OF 1960S AND 70S, WHICH I LOVE”. TUFTY-TIMESUCCEEDED IN ITS INTENTION, COMBINING TRADITIONAL SHAPES WITH A FREER, MORE INFORMALLIFESTYLE THAT TRANSLATES INTO EXTREMELY VERSATILE CONFIGURATIONS. THE MODULAR SYSTEM ISBUILT AROUND AN OTTOMAN, A BASIC UNIT THAT IS JOINED BY CENTRAL, CORNER AND TERMINALELEMENTS WITH HIGH OR LOW ARMRESTS. THE RESULT IS A 360° SEATING SOLUTION WITH TRADITIONALLINEAR SOFAS, CHAISES LONGUES AND CORNER AND ISLAND UNITS. THE RESULT WAS ONE OF THECOMPANY’S GREATEST SUCCESSES- NOT ONLY AN HOMAGE TO PAST DESIGNS BUT ALSO A SKILFULEXPRESSION OF THE CONCEPTS OF MODULARITY, COMFORT AND REMOVABLE COVERS, CREATED WITHTHE ENERGY OF A TRULY INNOVATIVE SPIRIT.
