S 53 SPF

Thonet’s chair model S 53 is both comfortable and beautifully designed, and it is suitable for many uses. It is an extension of the existing product family S 55: while the latter is available only in fully upholstered versions, S 53 stands out with versions with either the seat shell or just the seat in partial upholstery, leaving the attractive wooden backrest visible. Another advantage: with S 53 Thonet offers the ideal alternative to the successful original programme for smaller budgets. Based on the construction principle of the cantilever chair, this new model with armrests and a one-piece seat shell guarantees the highest level of comfort for the living and contract segments. In addition, a new swivel chair version of programme range S 55 offers even more flexibility for the selection of the perfect seating.

The diverse possibilities of use make the chairs of product family S 55 flexible all-rounders: as conference chairs they can be used in meeting rooms and training or seminar areas. In addition, thanks to their organic form and the outstanding seating comfort, they lend a cosy atmosphere to any private room.

The cantilever chair S 53 has armrests and, in addition to the more compact version, is also available in a version with higher backrest (S 54). The frame is made of chrome-plated tubular steel; the seat shell is made of moulded plywood. The partial upholstery for the seat or entire seat shell, or full upholstery with cold foam cushioning assure comfortable sitting. A selection of leathers and fabrics is available for the covers. The armrests are coated with elastomeric plastic, covered in fine nappa leather or available in solid wood. Upon request, this chair model is also available in a stackable version.

The new swivel chair version of S 55 also provides more freedom for the furnishing of conference areas. This version is compatible with the seat shells of models S 55 and S 56 with higher backrest.
