Our Signature Shanghai rug frames the mighty Huangpu River as it flows through the heart of the city. It divides this vast metropolis into two halves with distinct periods of development; the historic ‘Puxi’, or Western side and the gleaming super high rise ‘Pudong’ business district to the East. The two sides have a visibly distinct character, even in plan view. The tree-lined winding roads of Shanghai’s Former French Concession are more intricately woven than the larger blocks and straighter avenues of the newer Pudong district. Overall, Shanghai’s urban form is dominated by the curvaceous lines of its waterways and complex, winding road network. Our tufted, plush Shanghai rug is square, framing this chaotic urban fabric as it meanders in all directions. The deep red colorway is bold and theatrical and is a particularly auspicious color in Chinese culture.

The Signature rug is tufted at multiple cut pile heights with 100% New Zealand wool, then hand-carved to give the urban pattern a plush, 3D relief texture. Customized size, color or shape available by request.
