Tuohi Wall Element

TUOHI is Finnish language and means bark of the birch wood.  There is a long tradition of making different utility articles of birch bark in Finland.  Designer Tapio Anttila has been inspired by this tradition combined with the latest production technology.  He created the birch bark wall panels for Showroom Finland Oy in 2008.  Birch bark is a living organic material and structure, the tones and specific patterns being different in every tree trunk.  This makes each TUOHI panel unique.  Real bark of birch is laminated on top of MDF board.
