Strangers on the station
The rigor of the cement-colored grids along the walls of the Milanese subway station Turati surprised travelers with unexpected interruptions by portholes. Hosting telephone booths or opening the view on adjacent spaces, they represent portals for communication. With the same desire to connect and ease interactions, Meeting Point pouf designates these circular elements as the distinctive feature of its design.
Concept
Strangers on the station
On the agreed time and date, travel companions meet each other to set off on an expedition. Meeting Point is not only a place where anonymous passengers and their private stories converge. It is also a product created by Luca Nichetto for Sancal, part of a tribute to the Turati station in Milan.
Meeting Point is a pouf system which also integrates tables. It represents one of the four unique products created by the Italian master, each with a its own identity, while sharing a common inspiration and design language.
The circle is the dominant shape, representing the station’s hole-like windows that open onto galleries and platforms. Upholstered seats with a diameter of 60 or 90 centimetres are accompanied by round wooden or metal tables of different sizes and finishes.
The thin steel legs, coated in textured black epoxy, create an illusion of levitation, as if the seats and tables are suspended in mid-air. The metal table tops are available in textured black or a gold finish while the ash tables are available in all the colours of Sancal’s chart. The seats can be upholstered in an endless array of fabrics, vinyl and leathers.
An arrangement of different Meeting Points creates an elegant set in private residences, lobbies, breakout areas or other corporate spaces.

Italy
Lodes’ Design Curator, in 2006 Luca Nichetto founded a multidisciplinary design studio in Venice, Italy, which specialised in industrial design, product design and design consulting. From the very beginning, this studio collaborated with a number of different brands and organisations, quickly expanding its influence far beyond Venice and Italy’s borders. Five years later, in 2011, Nichetto opened a second studio in Stockholm, Sweden. This practice was founded in response to an ever–growing number of requests for collaboration from international companies, with the studio’s work also broadening out from its initial focus on designed objects. Nichetto Studio has since expanded into areas such as interior design and architecture. Today, Nichetto Studio works with a variety of brands and clients from all around the world, and its expertise is sought out across all design disciplines.
