Our S.O.L.O. projects are spontaneous mini collections which may emerge at any point in the year. They are born when we fall in love with a special texture or discover an innovative effect. Original but solitary creations that take centre stage outside the year’s main events.

Weaving with metallic thread

The weave toys with metallic reflections. As if under the influence of a philosophers’ stone, the warp and weft shimmer with gold and silver light, glossy and nuanced. In their glints you might see a crumpled piece of gold leaf or a jewel. Transformed, they ripple and move like the surface of a lake, an ever-changing magic, reflecting the rays of the sun during the day and changing in the subtle light of dusk.

The stripe and the plain are woven together and combined with metallic strips, forming shimmering creations that turn mere walls into true jewels. Reconciling the softness of fabric with the stiffness of the metal strips is a staggeringly difficult technical challenge which can only be achieved through very precise skills and special hand looms.
