One Console
Architonic ID: 20767434
Year of Launch: 2024
The One Console presents an unexpected, unique and in some ways imperfect piece of architecture that recalls the Dolmens of prehistoric times, which were created by stacking irregular stones in a way that was apparently random and precarious. It is as if the elements that make up the console were not intended to be together, but had instead shifted unexpectedly away from their original position, thereby giving life to a contemporary and recognizable accessory with a striking top and unusual bases.
A barely visible opening between the curved modules that form the base allows an interplay of light that illuminates the different profiles of the console’s supporting columns. The legs are very close to each other, so much so that from different perspectives the distance is imperceptible; this generates visual instability and a surprising dynamic effect. At the same time, the interplay between the legs gives direction to the console, and therefore to the space in which it is placed.
These unusual features give the product a personal richness, making it unique and particularly unexpected.

Belgium
Alain Gilles (1970–) is a renowned Belgian designer. Design was not his first calling: his university studies initially focused on Political Science, a discipline in which he graduated in Brussels. He then pursued a career in the financial sector for several years before deciding to change his life and move to France, where he earned a second degree at the Institut Supérieur de Design in Valenciennes—this time following his passion for Industrial Design. In 2007, after several years of collaboration with fellow Belgian designer Xavier Lust, he founded his own studio and began a series of successful partnerships with several major international design brands. The most significant and productive of these have been with the Belgian office furniture brand BuzziSpace and the Italian company Bonaldo, both of which quickly made him one of their leading designers. Winning the title of Designer of the Year in 2012 at the Interieur Kortrijk Fair opened the door to many new collaborations, including with brands such as Ligne Roset, Varaschin, Miniforms, XL Boom, Saba Italia, Vincent Sheppard, La Chance, and many others.
