Like a royal sized padded ´jacket´
Charly is an armchair that goes back to basic principles. A graciously shaped frame, clothed just like a living person in a softly padded ‘jacket’. Maybe that’s the reason why Charly has a natural air that makes such a human impression. The seat, which is higher than average, together with the straight back, give the Charly what is known as active comfort, a quality which will also be appreciated by elderly people. Its personality makes it easy to integrate with various styles.
C
harly Flex
Montis has developed an (optional) adjustable back for its chairs by taking advantage of the chairs' flexible upholstery material. The result? A truly elegant reclining lounge chair! A small lever located almost invisibly under the chair is used to shift the back into any position.
The appearance of the upholstery remains unchanged as the position of the chair shifts.
Zip
For the zip, there is the choice between black, silver or gold-coloured.
Base
The base is available in black or mat chrome with black feet. The Charly can be ordered with two different foot caps. Harsh foot caps for soft floors and caps with felt for harsh floors. When ordering this chair, please indicate whether the flooring is harsh or soft.
Ottoman
The additional ottoman combines perfectly with the design of this armchair.
Proportions
Charly has the following proportions (w x d x h):
Easy chair: 75 x 64 x 100 cm
Seat height: 45 cm
Ottoman: 50 x 50 x 45 cm

Plain, usually slightly curved, and yet suggestive and unmistakable forms are typical of Gerard van den Berg. The Dutch designer consciously goes for simplicity and for this very reason shows his creative ability. Van den Berg, born in 1947, studied furniture building and design at a technical college. In the Seventies he founded together with his brother the Montis upholstered furniture company. Thanks to his designs the young company soon attained international recognition. It´s success did not stop van den Berg´s leaving Montis in the early Nineties. Since then he has been a freelance designer. His work for leading international furniture companies and numerous prizes and awards testify to his creative ability. Apart from furniture, van den Berg also designs lamps, exhibition buildings and interiors for companies and offices. [source: www.wittmann.at]
