Manhattan Floor lamp

In 1997 the exhibition “100 drinking glasses” was displayed in Milan, Philips launched their halogenbulb, and Restaurant Spångbergs in Växjö wanted a new, special lamp. With that inspiration, Gunnel Svensson designed Manhattan, whose shape reminds of a traditional drinking glass and where the transparent glass leaves the lamp holder visible, creating a light structure that does not visually take up space in the room. Despite that, careful combination of bulbs to match the clear or frosted class makes sure the lamp will not give a blinding light.

The elegant and timeless model is handmade in mouth blown glass at Bergdala Glasworks in Småland, and the lamp can be found at Terance Conran’s design hotel as well as the in the national museum in Dublin and of course, in homes and hotels around the world.
