Aiko coffee table

With its uncomplicated form the Aiko coffee table is a multifunctional piece of furniture that can do its job not only as a coffee table but also as a spacious side table beside the sofa. An acid etching technique is used to make a patchwork pattern on the tabletop, turning it into a small masterpiece of traditional handcrafting. The frame of the Aiko table is made of powder-coated iron, and the tabletop has a graphic patchwork structure, which is created using one of the oldest handcrafting techniques: acid etching. This is done by covering the etched metal in wax and submersing it for a few minutes in an acid bath. The acid erodes the parts of the metal that are not covered in wax, bringing the etching to life. In a final step, the surface is nickel-plated and finished with a dark patina. Aiko is not intended for use outdoors. The surfaces should not be cleaned with abrasive microfiber cloths. A soft damp cloth is ideal. Red wine and other acidic liquids can damage the surface and should be wiped off immediately.
