Netherlands
William Brand (1963) and Annet van Egmond (1964) graduated at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht the Netherlands where he trained as an architect and she as a sculptor working since 18 years as independent product designers. William and Annet are responsible for the design, the art-direction and are founders of Brand van Egmond. William won some national awards and Annet received a grant. The collection includes “prêt-a-porter” lamps as well as “tailor-made” products, especially designed for individual clients. With their studio/laboratory background they make “haute couture” pieces for an international public as well as for residential projects. They work with creative leading architects and interior designers on special projects for hotels, clubs and restaurants. Their latest project was for the Dutch Embassy in New Delhi. The mysterious Night Watch is shown there as an art installation. This project formed the base for the new “claire-obscure” Night Watch collection that brings tradition into today’s trendy space. Every year they create their new lighting handcrafted sculptures in freedom with fun and passion, never thinking of the market demand. The collections is showed at fairs and galleries such as Cologne and Utrecht (own showroom) Milan, Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and Courtrai. In 2004 the Hollywood shed it’s light over the 76th Academy Awards presentation in the US. In 2006 Patricia Urquiola selected Flower Power for the Design Yearbook of 2007
