Paxton candleholder
Architonic ID: 1108191

Concept
Industrial and robust, Paxton stands in contrast to the traditional romantic notion of candelabra.
Made of black cast aluminum, Paxton resembles "an engine, a bridge truss, or even a stealth fighter," says creator, Roderick Vos. Paxton "could support 40 kilos," but only needs to hold five candles. The candleholder is a tribute to Sir Joseph Paxton, designer of the famed Crystal Palace at the Great Exhibition of 1851. The Crystal Palace launched the Industrial Revolution, and, in its own way, is the distant ancestor of Paxton.
