A contemporary twist on traditional Japanese lanterns, the ceiling lamp Chouchin Reverse 2 combines practicality and aesthetics diffusing warm light into its surroundings and direct down light. A lower coloured ring completes the elongated blown glass diffuser in an original way.
Concept
Chouchin is a Japanese word meaning those traditional symbolic paper and bamboo lanterns typically used as light and bright signs outside restaurants and bars, or as lucky charms outside homes. Created by Ionna Vautrin in 2011, this lamp is a contemporary restyling of these poetic and almost magical objects.
With Chouchin, the young French designer manages to convey all the poetry of oriental tradition through an unprecedented material, namely painted blown glass. Simple and stylish, Chouchin teams unique craft-based expertise with a modern and strikingly simple style.
