The 2017 Salone del Mobile Milan sees the launch of new collaboration between Italian furniture brand Zilio A&C and a up-and-coming design duo, Livia Rossi and Gianluca Giabardo of Dossoforito. Together they present Etta, a multifunctional furniture that display and store objects, and act as a space divider. During the initial conversation between designers and the company director Carlo Zilio, an idea of creating object that can house indoor plants was exchanged. Can we create furniture that allows the plants, like creepers, to grow on to create a natural and vibrant screen to the spaces? Rossi and Giabardo answered to this brief with a playful design, composed of a platform with 4 removable elements – a small round shelf, two shapes of uprights (especially conceived to support different typologies of houseplants ) and one upholstered backrest. Mobile elements invites user to arrange them in anyway they wish, and also turns Etta into a versatile storage unit, not just for indoor plants.
