Cast stone and wood are combined in EQUAL, an element with a linear geometry and ample space for sitting and sharing that emerges from its proportion and balance. Balance in its volumes, which form a suite that shapes the base and emerges as a backrest. Balance between its inclined and orthogonal planes, creating a simple, surprising geometry. Balance between two materials that merge to heighten their contrast: the coldness of cast stone and the warmth of wood. Finally, balance between its potential use as a seat with and without a backrest. The nearly 3 metre length of this product provides a comfortable, attractive surface for sitting, while its weight allows for unanchored installation. EQUAL was designed in 2009 by architect Joseph Gascón in conjunction with Escofet.
