NESTREST Hanging lounger

Thanks to its cosy, protective, organic structure, NESTREST transforms your typical garden sofa into a small architectural piece, one that offers you a secluded, suspended sanctuary as it gently rocks you and puts you at ease like a warm embrace. It’s the perfect place for relaxation, meditation and open-air conversations. Created by Fred Frety & Daniel Pouzet, two longtime collaborators of DEDON design partner Jean-Marie Massaud, NESTREST was inspired by the shapes, textures and colors found in nature, and by the sophisticated design of certain bird nests. It is constructed out of a new, specially created DEDON Fiber, four centimeters wide, guaranteeing a sturdy and solid weave that is open, breathable and private, allowing those sheltered within to look out while preventing outsiders from seeing in. Built around an aluminum frame, NESTREST is much lighter than one might initially assume, weighing only 100kg. Available in both natural and chalk colors, it easily integrates with the surrounding environment. It may be hung from trees or from other available supports by use of a specialized system of ropes. Once installed, it creates what Frety and Pouzet describe as a “secret hiding place” fit for a modern-day garden: “An experience of nature and friendship and a perfect expression of DEDON ’s open-air lifestyle”. The interior contains a single, large mattress cushion, luxuriously embellished and made even more comfortable and inviting by an array of smaller cushions strewn over the main one. A free-standing version of NESTREST, equipped with a protective cover, is currently being developed.
