For over 30 years Damiano Costagli has worked with iron and steel, creating traditional products. He has never abandoned his belief that a metal worked with mastery and care will be able to create astounding unique objects which can only take shape through the expertise, fantasy and freedom that a true artisan nurtures over the years. Iron has never been considered a noble metal because there have always been great quantities of it in nature, used by man through the centuries for many different purposes. The Soft Iron line is born of the desire to not only transform this metal’s shape but also its essence, thus creating an illusion able to confound both look and touch. The tinting of these items is entrusted to the fire, which by natural reaction with steel gives out a wide array of different tones of its natural colors; from ocher yellow to an intense brown color, through violet and dark gray.
