The Oris bed designed by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti explores the interaction between form and function through highly expressive aesthetics. The high, square headboard together with the enveloping side members that touch the ground, indicate a measured and rigorous architectural presence. The padded leather or hide covering, punctuated by soft signs of cuts and contrasting stitching, reminder the viewer of the craftsmanship of leather goods and saddlery, defining the distinctive identity of this object.
The geometric purity of the design translates into an essential form of language in which every detail is calculated to highlight the value of the materials and the executive precision. The leather (or hide), chosen for its tactile and visual qualities, is modelled naturally around the surfaces, revealing the quality of the workmanship and the skill of the manufacturer.
A fabric version, available in the collection’s different materials, introduces a more welcoming and informal dimension, with tone-on-tone stitching that accentuates its stylistic coherence.

GABRIELE BURATTI, architect and professor of Interior Design at the Faculty of Design of Politecnico di Milano (2003-2010), and OSCAR BURATTI, architect, form the architecture and design studio BURATTI ARCHITETTI.
