Concept
Catifa 46 is a cornerstone of Arper’s identity- an enduring icon that has introduced a new language to the world of design since its debut. Its latest evolutions reflect its ability to continuously adapt to changing needs. Today, as we embrace a more conscious approach to production, Catifa 46 is reinterpreted with a shell made using 100% recycled plastic, sourced from a blend of post-consumer and post-industrial waste. With this new material come a fresh texture and color palette, inspired by sustainable architecture: materials that are exposed, authentic, and naturally textured, adding depth and warmth to the shell. More than just visual, the experience is also tactile. On the back of the shell, hues blend with a unique textured shell echoing the bi-color innovation that originally defined Catifa and adding further character and identity to Catifa (RE) 46. A new BREATHAIR® seat cushion enhances comfort. This elastomeric polyester is elastic, breathable, water-resistant, and fully recyclable. For the first time, it has been precisely shaped to fit Catifa (RE) 46, merging softness with the refined aesthetics of its exposed shell. A step forward in redefining beauty through sustainability.
Catifa (RE) 46 is available in eight colours: ivory, anthracite, moorland green, midnight blue, rust, espresso, moon white, and black. The shell pairs with three different bases to suit various needs and environments: four-legged wooden base, four-legged steel base, and sled base, the latter two suitable for outdoor use. In configurations with the four-legged steel base or sled base, optional armrests can be added for enhanced comfort and support. Additionally, to offer greater versatility, Catifa (RE) 46 is available in a stool version, with two different seat heights, both featuring a sled base.
