With over 2,700 exhibitors, Heimtextil in Frankfurt am Main from 12 to 15 January 2016 will once again be the world’s biggest trade fair for home and contract textiles, with the biggest selection of contract textiles for hotels, architecture and interior design to be found anywhere across the globe. Among them, more than 350 Heimtextil exhibitors from all over the world are set to present their product portfolios under the ‘Contract Creations’ label. But the range of contract textiles doesn't only include an unrivalled variety of materials and suppliers for all quality and price categories. Planners can also look forward to an exciting blend of new impulses and experienced partners for their construction and interior-design projects. Guided tours and a lecture programme aimed especially at architects and hoteliers provide valuable input.

With the unparalleled inspiration generated by the ‘Theme Park’ trend show in Hall 6.0, at the heart of the fair, Heimtextil offers an unrivalled overview and preview of interior-design trends. The Theme Park also risks a look into the future of ‘hospitality and presents inspiring and visionary ideas. As a cooperation partner of this year's Finest Interior Award, Heimtextil honours the creative work of interior architects, interior designers and furnishers. The Finest Interior Award is given for individual and professional furnishings.

The huge spectrum of products at Heimtextil is clearly structured. ‘Contract Creation’ logos on the exhibition stands show which exhibitors offer contract textiles and furnishing solutions for hotels, restaurants and other commercial premises. The Contract Guide is a good orientation aid and includes a list of suppliers of contract textiles. It will be available free of charge to visitors at several points around the fair.

Lectures Interior.Architecture.Hospitality

In cooperation with ‘AIT’ architecture magazine and the IHA hotel association, Heimtextil offers a varied and interesting programme of lectures for architects, interior architects, designers and hoteliers. All lectures will be held in ‘Saal Europa’, Foyer Hall 4.0, on 13 and 14 January 2016.

‘AIT’ architecture magazine offers a stimulating programme of half-hour lectures and panel discussions with internationally renowned architects. On the afternoon of 13 January, they will be held under the motto ‘compact.good.exclusive – the new luxury in residential construction’. On Thursday, 14 January, the focus from 13.00 will be on ‘Hotel architecture as a retreat in foreign countries’.

On the morning of 14 January 2016, the German Hotel Association (IHA) will offer insights into the latest trends and developments relating to sustainability in the hotel business. Experts such as Martina Baumgärtner (ALEGRIA), Christoph Haub (REMONDIS), Frank Martin (Cofely Deutschland) and Florian Zeitler (Electrolux Professional) will speak about environmentally friendly hygiene solutions and technologies for hotels. In their lectures, the speakers will tackle the following questions: ‘Outsourcing or own cleaners?’ and ‘What challenges are associated with a modern environmental-management system?’ The thematic spectrum will range from housekeeping to economic energy supply. Rounding off the morning event will be a lecture by tourism expert Olaf Schlieper of the German Tourist Office (DZT), in which he will provide a compact overview of the opportunities and challenges of sustainable travel.

Around 30 architects and interior architects will search for new generations of innovative products from the contract textiles, textile room-dividing and sun-protection systems, wall coverings, wallpaper and furniture product groups to be seen at Heimtextil. There will be a notice about the results of the AIT trend scouting at ‘Salon Interior.Architecture.Hospitality’ in Foyer 4.0 as from the second day of the fair. Additionally, the trend scouts will hold a guided tour to the award-winning exhibitors for visitors interested in this subject.

‘AIT’ and ‘xia’ architectural magazines have once again joined forces with Heimtextil for the ‘Architecture + Textile Contract’ innovation award, which underscores the significance of the architectural quality of textile products and room solutions. The competition is aimed at architects, interior architects and designers, as well as industrial companies and processors of textile products, contract textiles and room solutions.

The awards ceremonies for the ‘Architecture+ Textile Contract’ and the ‘AIT Trend Scouting’ will be held in ‘Saal Europa’, Foyer Hall 4.0, at 17.00 on 13 January 2016. Material Tendencies N° 10: Färg & Blanche

Fredrik Färg and Emma Marga Blanche like to combine industrial production and exclusive handcraft. The works of the Swedish-French design duo often have a tailored, yet playful, touch – showing that their experiments, in particular in textiles, could be applied to mass production.

Architonic met Färg & Blanche in Milan and discussed their hands-on experimentations with materials.

'Textiles. Because there is a lot of innovation happening. You can go from being flat to having volume – you cut, you shape, you tailor, you construct. It can be used for many different things. The more we work with textiles, the more we get into the material. It is fascinating in every way.'
