The shape of things to come

As the new business year takes shape, Heimtextil will be flexing its muscle as the leading fair for interior and contract textiles. Presenting the latest trends and products, the fair uniquely demonstrates the innovative and creative possibilities that contemporary textiles offer architects and designers. Add in the strong contract focus of the Interior.Architecture.Hospitality exhibition and special events like the architect-led guided tours, and a visit to Frankfurt is the ticket to starting January off in top form.

Woven spaces
Text: Heimtextil
The overall design concept in hall 4.2 will be planned and implemented by Atelier ushitamborriello from Switzerland. The Atelier will be using therefor an old Japanese tradition: the 'Furoshiki'. The term 'Furoshiki' denotes a simple woven cloth, which was traditionally used in Japanese cultural history for gift wrapping and carrying bags.  A square format forms the basis for different, and sometimes elaborate, knotting and folding techniques. Interior architect and set designer Ushi Tamborriello’s enthusiasm for the 'Furoshiki' lies in its high degree of flexibility and sustainability, as well as the particular three-dimensional design freedom that the simple two-dimensional cloth can provide.
