High spirits

Whether you're able to raise a festive glass or not at the moment, depending on possible restrictions where you are, we've all certainly earned one. This year has forced us all to mine the depths of our creativity, innovation and agility. 2021 will, if all goes according to plan, be a much brighter year – in particular, for the hospitality sector. So, we devote the lead feature in our last Architonic Report of this year to a hand-picked selection of bars from around the globe – projects that reprogramme old structures from the past as new social spaces for making future friends.

Happy holidays to you all and see you again in the new year, when we'll be launching our new Global Design Agenda! (See below for details.)

Simon Keane-Cowell, Editor-in-Chief

Be part of the industry's new calendar!

We all need to regain some focus. Which is why – new for 2021 – Architonic will be hosting the Global Design Agenda, the architects' programme of focus weeks for planning insights, market trends and product launches.

Dutch masters

The best furniture offers its owner something beyond utility – qualities that go beyond practical function. It is something to be used, yes, but also, like a piece of art, for example, to be enjoyed. For Dutch brand Jess, this quality is found in the passion with which its furniture is conceived and created, a passion clearly seen in the distinctive shapes, colours and craftsmanship of its handmade collections – including the Sanne dining chair.

Sanne’s inviting form is matched by the comfort of its cold-foam-filled seat and sloping backrest in high-quality leather. The chair’s coarse stitching also gives it a robust feel. And in offering Sanne in a variety of colours, bases and variations, Jess lets its customers contribute to the creation of their very own work of art.
