Architonic photo tours: imm cologne, swissbau Basel and Stockholm Furniture Fair

imm cologne 2012

This year's new fair season has kicked off with imm cologne 2012, which took place between 16 - 22 January. 115.000 visitors and a positive market situation in the German furniture trade led to very affirmative results of imm. The comeback of some of the most important Italian brands and the consequent development of the new exhibition format 'Pure Village' also contributed to the success of the fair. Particularly successful was also the project 'Das Haus', with which the fair has given the London designer duo of Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien a carte blanche to realise their visions of new interiors.

As a long-term media partner of imm cologne, Architonic was there once again with our Concept Space. Two lively evenings at the Architonic Disco generated, as every year, great contacts and friendships and we'd like to thank all of you who partied with us.

If you didn't get the chance to explore the fair this year, you can do it now, virtually with Architonic. Join us on a photographic journey through this year's edition of imm cologne. Picture Perfect: Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec at Weil am Rhein's Vitra Design Museum

Some 300 original drawings and sketches are showcased at the "Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec - Album" exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery © Vitra Design Museum; photographer Barbara Kern

Instantly recognisable, many considered to be the modern day icons of industrial design, the creations of The Bouroullec brothers’ design powerhouse need no introduction. Launched, presented or exhibited at virtually every self-respecting furniture fair, one would be forgiven for thinking that the last thing the design world needs is yet another showcase of Ronan and Erwan’s unabating creative input. Be it the form of the meticulously intertwined, puzzle-like tile concept made of vividly coloured thermocompressed foam, fabric and double injected rubberband, Cloud, or the cleverly engineered but pure in its form plain-wood Osso chair. Yet, if there is one thing missing in the recently-opened at Vitra’s Weil am Rhein Design Museum Gallery exhibition dedicated to the Bretagne-born Paris-based siblings’ work is exactly that, their products.
