Steelpro’s tale
Founder Jouko Rahikka continued his career of many years as a steel contractor by founding Oy Steelpro Ltd in 1997.
After previously working in the steel industry, the family company experienced great changes in 2006, when Jouko together with our designers developed a new glass railing system, taking advantage of aluminum extrusion technology.
The glass railing system (at that time under the name LK65) enjoyed a great reception from architects. We quickly noticed that this was not just a small development step, but rather an entirely new way to make vertical-post-free glass railings.
In the first few years we developed this product further, and so LK60 was born, in which many weaknesses noted in the original system were corrected.
In 2009 we developed alongside the LK60-glass railing system the complementary product, The SP200-staircase system. As with the LK60, the SP200 is also a system constructed using aluminum extrusion technology, and both production and installation are made as easy and quick as possible.
Now the company had two successful products. As the railing and staircase systems became more popular, we ended our steel contracting completely in 2010, and concentrated on developing our current and new products. To supplement these two main products we have developed among others fastening systems and handrails.
Export of our products started in 2010, which in turn allowed us to move entirely to developing and manufacturing our own products.
During 2014 we have developed an LED-handrail system, which was demonstrated for the first time at the Habitare 2014 fair.
