Materials and sustainability Wood is more than a material; it is a living element that evolves over time, gaining character and depth. Sourced responsibly, each piece of timber selected is transformed through meticulous craftsmanship, ensuring its natural beauty is preserved and enhanced. Sustainability is at the core of ARTISAN's production process. Every stage, from sourcing to finishing, reflects the company's commitment to environmental responsibility and timeless durability. The Artisan Design Ethos The Artisan philosophy embraces authenticity, simplicity, and craftsmanship. Inspired by the organic nature of wood and the artistry of hand-finished details, our furniture brings warmth, elegance, and lasting comfort to any space. Artisan's pieces are not just furniture; they are heirlooms in the making, crafted to be lived with, cherished, and passed down through generations. The production process Artisan treats Oak, European and American Walnut, Cherry, Elm, Ash and Maple wood using superheated steam to achieve an ideal colour and accentuated texture without compromising the wood’s structure or ecological integrity. Oak, ash, and maple, as well as the previously mentioned species, are then prepared for natural drying in covered, ventilated storage facilities located in carefully selected geographic areas optimal for this process. Once the wood reaches a critical moisture level, it continues drying in computer-controlled chambers under conventional and vacuum systems, utilising advanced wood-drying software. The dried wood is then stored under conditions that mirror the living environment of the end user, ensuring stability and longevity. Next, the wood is selected from storage, cut to the required lengths and widths, processed by machine, and glued into boards before further drying and acclimatization. Precision machine processing prepares the wood for assembly, combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology, including the use of a 5-axis Homag CNC machine. The final stages of production involve assembly and finishing. Artisan uses natural oils, soaps, waxes, and varnishes, which can be applied individually or in combination on the dried wood. This treatment extends the lifespan of each piece, preserves the wood’s natural qualities, and enhances its visual features - colour, texture, and overall aesthetic.
